Summary

Love the plot and the main character。 The only reason it isn't 5 stars is that the writing/translation can be a little rough, to the point of being distracting in some bits。 Love the plot and the main character。 The only reason it isn't 5 stars is that the writing/translation can be a little rough, to the point of being distracting in some bits。 。。。more

Yes, I picked it because the anime made me curious :P。 So far it seems they've followed the light novel pretty closely。 The humans' part moves more slowly (e。g。 they meet Oka only at the end of the volume) but the amount of information provided seems the same。In this first volume the story is pretty standard for the genre, but it's still entertaining and we'll have to see what happens once we're past this introductory phase。 Yes, I picked it because the anime made me curious :P。 So far it seems they've followed the light novel pretty closely。 The humans' part moves more slowly (e。g。 they meet Oka only at the end of the volume) but the amount of information provided seems the same。In this first volume the story is pretty standard for the genre, but it's still entertaining and we'll have to see what happens once we're past this introductory phase。 。。。more

The anime is probably much better than this。 This has really no humor, and I kept pushing in reading it because I wanted to like this so much。 But the biggest problem I had in this that all the character random just think they've died and been reincarnated, but everything points more toward virual-reality game。 Like there are so many more possible but all the characters are just random adamant that it's reincarnation。 And this isn't how reincarnation works at all, even if by chance you kept your The anime is probably much better than this。 This has really no humor, and I kept pushing in reading it because I wanted to like this so much。 But the biggest problem I had in this that all the character random just think they've died and been reincarnated, but everything points more toward virual-reality game。 Like there are so many more possible but all the characters are just random adamant that it's reincarnation。 And this isn't how reincarnation works at all, even if by chance you kept your memories of your past life, you wouldn't be reborn into a random alternate world of monsters, with a robotic voice talking to you periodically。 But even if I ignore that very annoying thing, the characters are just so plain and randomly ok with this new life。 Like the spider after a semi-very organized freak out, she just like ok, I'm a spider, let's do spider things。 Like what? You wouldn't just settle with this。 You be angry and depressed, and missing everything about you're past。 But she not, she perfectly ok with this and I can't stand how 2-dimensional these characters are。 Anime probably funnier visually and better, but the light novel not a good read。 。。。more

idk why i'm reading this。 It's just a series of poorly formatted video game abilities increasing in stat level。 however that is far more interesting than the boring human stories。 idk why i'm reading this。 It's just a series of poorly formatted video game abilities increasing in stat level。 however that is far more interesting than the boring human stories。 。。。more

Cool concept, it subverts the self-insert prodigy mary sue male MC by instead being about a girl reborn as a weakling spider。 Actually no, the author still finds a way to have that exact character by simply having two protagonists。 The non-spider MC is the blandest de facto isekai protagonist imaginable, and the only right course is to have him be devoured by spider girl at the earliest convenience (one can hope at least。。。)。Having read a decent amount of unofficial translations it is nice that Cool concept, it subverts the self-insert prodigy mary sue male MC by instead being about a girl reborn as a weakling spider。 Actually no, the author still finds a way to have that exact character by simply having two protagonists。 The non-spider MC is the blandest de facto isekai protagonist imaginable, and the only right course is to have him be devoured by spider girl at the earliest convenience (one can hope at least。。。)。Having read a decent amount of unofficial translations it is nice that this one at least has an official translation by someone who knows how to properly edit a book。There are WAYYYY too many stat pages。 I am always just left wondering who on earth reads them, esp。 when it happens about 20 times per novel; it gets even worse in book two。IDK if this is a translation error or if this mistake is also done in the original, but spiders are not poisonous, they are venomous。 This mistake is done repeatedly and without consistency: e。g。 "I drive my venomous fangs。。。" / "So my poison fangs。。。" / "My fangs are venomous!"/ "Keep injecting poison through my fangs。"。Venom is injected, poison is digested。 It could be explained that the character in the novel doesn't know the difference, so her monologue on the subject shows this ignorance, but again, IDK if this mistake is due to a translation error or if it exists in the original as well。 Regardless, I would hope a story that is 75% about a spider would take a bit of pride in getting facts about arachnids correct。 。。。more

*hides face* I know, the rating is just average, I’m sorry! Even though I love the idea of the world and story I find the writing very amateurish and I’m pretty sure it’s not the translator’s fault。 SO MANY paragraphs! I’d love more details and so ons, but this is basically stream of consciousness style writing and our MC doesn’t care about such things: just survival。 Anyway I will definitely still be reading more because it’s entertaining but I think I prefer the manga style version of this。。。。 *hides face* I know, the rating is just average, I’m sorry! This is an intriguing series。 As I'm watching the anime and remembering the manga, I'm glad there is a light novel which expands and explains a lot of the world building as I find that very helpful。 I'm intrigued to see where this story goes! The story presented here is covered by Volumes 1 and 2 of the manga and the first chapter of volume 3。 This is an intriguing series。 As I'm watching the anime and remembering the manga, I'm glad there is a light novel which expands and explains a lot of the world building as I find that very helpful。 I'm intrigued to see where this story goes! The story presented here is covered by Volumes 1 and 2 of the manga and the first chapter of volume 3。 。。。more

I like the world building and having different POVs in characters, but the skills, titles, and leveling is kind of monotonous。

After watching the anime I decided to tackle the manga。 Read up to the latest chapter (ch 50) in two days and was dying to know what happens next。Well, I’m reading the light novel now and it’s great。 Obviously a bit repetitive reading Kumoku’s perspective again, but the alternate viewpoints not in the manga really add to the world building。Looking forward to volume 2!

Really enjoyed it。 Not a serious read, more of a fun story。 So far haven't encountered any of my pet peeves, usually occurring within anime/manga/LNs。(These would be:1。 excessive fanservice2。 incompetent virgin harem protagonist, with a bunch of decorative, but shallow women around him3。 tiny, loud and unfunny "comic relief" character *shudder*4。 no tension in the story, since MC can bitch-slap the moon into the sun with his/her pinky)Thankfully none of these are present in the story so far。 Did Really enjoyed it。 Not a serious read, more of a fun story。 So far haven't encountered any of my pet peeves, usually occurring within anime/manga/LNs。(These would be:1。 excessive fanservice2。 incompetent virgin harem protagonist, with a bunch of decorative, but shallow women around him3。 tiny, loud and unfunny "comic relief" character *shudder*4。 no tension in the story, since MC can bitch-slap the moon into the sun with his/her pinky)Thankfully none of these are present in the story so far。 Didn't find the "comedic moments" really funny, but they weren't really obtrusive either。 World-building was nice。 Weird, but ok characters (religious nut girl, brocon little sis and crazy guy gave me pause, but didn't bother me much)。 And the best part: MC faced challenges she had to overcome! I kinda hate stories with OP MCs, with the exception of Tanya, Saitama and possibly Momonga, but I'm still really iffy on the last one。My only problem is with the power progression in later books。 It just becomes a jumbled mess。 At the beginning of the third book, MC hass 76+1 skills and 13 titles。 That's way too much。 I feel like whenever I can't list out an characters skills (without looking it up), it's gotten out of control。Also, it would be awesome if LNs started getting audiobooks。 。。。more

This light novel is a fun and quirky read that follows the second life of a young-Japanese-student-turned-spider。 That's right, in this isekai, our MC (lovingly nicknamed Kumoko) has been reincarnated into another world as a spider! Enjoyable but basic writingObviously I picked this up because the Anime was just released so I was curious。 The writing is very simple to the point I’d put it at a Junior level。 That could be in part of the localization。 Nevertheless, the author has some neat ideas and love the way skills work。 I also appreciate the first person aspect。 Nothing groundbreaking but a fun read。 Certainly worth the value when you have Comics trying to charge you the same and they take all of ten minutes at Max to re Enjoyable but basic writingObviously I picked this up because the Anime was just released so I was curious。 The writing is very simple to the point I’d put it at a Junior level。 That could be in part of the localization。 Nevertheless, the author has some neat ideas and love the way skills work。 I also appreciate the first person aspect。 Nothing groundbreaking but a fun read。 Certainly worth the value when you have Comics trying to charge you the same and they take all of ten minutes at Max to read。 。。。more

Huh :D It's definitely not the standard "people end up in a game world" scenario that's for sure。I really love the MC, she's the right mix of sarcastic and funny。The other perspectives were okay, too, (since they were necessary for worldbuilding) though not as interesting as the main perspective。 But those were short anyway。 Huh :D It's definitely not the standard "people end up in a game world" scenario that's for sure。I really love the MC, she's the right mix of sarcastic and funny。The other perspectives were okay, too, (since they were necessary for worldbuilding) though not as interesting as the main perspective。 But those were short anyway。 。。。more

Volume one of this bizarre light novel series, penned by Okina Baba (illustrations by Tsukasa Kiryu) follows a nameless main character who has been reincarnated into a strange new world, in the body of spider no less。 And not the usual spiders in our world。 No, she’s come back as a Small Lesser Taratect, the weakest monster in what is known as the world largest dungeon。 She has little to no skills (though this does change as the story progresses), and she’s on the verge of a panic attack more of Volume one of this bizarre light novel series, penned by Okina Baba (illustrations by Tsukasa Kiryu) follows a nameless main character who has been reincarnated into a strange new world, in the body of spider no less。 And not the usual spiders in our world。 No, she’s come back as a Small Lesser Taratect, the weakest monster in what is known as the world largest dungeon。 She has little to no skills (though this does change as the story progresses), and she’s on the verge of a panic attack more often than not。 Though, to her credit, she does take being killed and reincarnated in another world pretty smoothly, all things considered。 Still, to be able to come back with all your memories of your human life, but you’re forced to be stuck in the body of the weakest monster in a dungeon full of things looking to kill you? Talk about crappy luck。However, she does a good job of keeping things light, which is more than I would be able to do in her shoes。 I mean, to have to constantly have your head on a swivel, where the smallest slip up could cost you your life? No thank you。 I have a hard enough time staying alive as a human, so I know I wouldn’t make it as a Taratect。 I’d be dead in a matter of days, if not sooner。 I enjoy seeing how resourceful she is, given her low stats and abilities。 Oh wait, I should probably tell you what I mean by that。 So, in this new world, everything is set up like a video game, where you have stats (like speed, strength, defense, etc。) and skills。 Her stats are…well, they’re trash。 Her saving grace is her abnormally high speed stat, which helps her escape sure death quite a few times over the course of the novel。 That, and her wits。 It’s always interesting to see how she gets herself out of the tough spots she often finds herself in。 Her commentary on the situations are oftentimes hilarious, as her age constantly shines through。 And I mean that in a good way。 Is it cringe? Maybe a little, but only sometimes, I promise! Hearing what she thinks about her circumstances and the small amount of skills she earns over the course of the book almost always brings a smile to my face。 And it’s satisfying seeing her collection of skills grow too。This is an entertaining read, and we get to see the world through the eyes of some of the other kids from her class that were also reincarnated in this world。 Admittedly, I’m more interested in our nameless main character than I am her classmates, so while I enjoy seeing other parts of the world, I prefer spending my time with our little spider the most。 Strategy, comedy, life-or-death situations。 What more can a guy ask for? 。。。more

Liked it a lot。 Verry original。 Fast passed。 WARNING。 For at least the first five volumes the timeline is confusing and you are presented with characters that you not understand what is their place in the story and that is because there are two storylines that do not run parallel in time。 You discover this in volume 5。 They are making an anime of this series which i guess will only cover the first 5 volumes。
